“This is why it’s hard to write women. Because they’re not just characters, they’re FEMALE characters and get held up to a much stronger microscope than male characters. They have to encompass much more and be much more and never ever have the tiniest whiff of anything even slightly resembling a stereotype. They can’t be too sexy, but they can’t be too chaste. They can’t be too strong, but they can’t be too weak. They can’t be too friendly, but they can’t be too standoffish. It’s a no-win situation.
“Unless you’re a writer. Than it’s just challenge accepted.” says Meghan.
Lady, I like the way you think things through.
Argh I just noticed I used than and not then, fuck me sidewaysBut seriously, I appreciate your willingness to collaborate with your
muses inspirationsmodels? even though you have every right to get creative and run with things since it’s your vision and your project. I like what that says about you. That skill will serve you well in the future. And if one day you’re having an “Augh haters I can’t even” hide under a rock moment (I’ve been there, done that, bought the t-shirt company, and sold it to Tony Stark to revamp), just go on amazon or another review site and look at the 1-star reviews for say, Romeo and Juliet. It sounds like it would put one in a negative headspace, but it will cheer you up.
Or y’know, go to a designated creative cheerleader such as myself.
But it’s not just my project. This is a story that includes you guys. You are a character and if I portray you wrongly you should have a say. I’m just so glad that I’ve got people who are incredibly willing to be bad guys, because we’re overflowing with morally-good characters up in here. And the way Manlow uses people really helps with convincing people that maybe none of these people are truely bad at all, and shhh I’m giving away secrets now!
Tony, shut up and take a compliment like a man.
But srsly, that’s very fair and democratic of you. It’s your story, don’t compromise that. We’re just very willing assistants/models/wtf is our job title anyways?. But I’m not discouraging you at all, I very much encourage your outlook, it’s a remarkable and very valuable quality for a creative person to have. I’d like to learn it from you very much.
In other non-feelwhale news, I’m now shipping Comic JessxJuicebox
Your ship name is Jessbox.
I’m not sorry.
